Welcome to the Boise Y-StridersThis is the home page of the Boise Y-Striders, a running club located in Boise, Idaho. Feel free to look around and learn more about the running scene here in Boise. If you have any comments or suggestions regarding this web site, please send them to Rich.Marion@BoiseYStriders.Org
Our MissionThe Y-Striders is a non-profit organization whose goal is to make Boise a better place to live and run through promotion and support of local running events. We also provide runners opportunities for getting together and offering each other advice and support, as well as great training opportunities. Check out our Events Calendar for more information.
MembershipThe annual membership fee for the Y-Striders is $15.
Membership forms are available at the Downtown YMCA, Bandanna Running and
Walking, and Shu's Running Co.
Your membership fee entitles you to participate in Y-Strider events. It also allows us to sponsor some local races, and to put on some other non-running events for members such as our marathon and holiday dinners. We also like to have members volunteer at some local races (those of us who aren't racing that is). Each year the Y-Striders makes a donation to local charities with profits from the Strider sponsored Turkey Trot Relay and the rental fees of our Race Clocks. At Shu's Running Co., Y-Strider members receive a $10.00 discount on regularly priced shoes over fifty dollars and shoes under fifty dollars you receive a $5.00 discount. Shu's Running Co. http://idahorunningcompany.com/ At Bandanna (5th and Main, Boise), Y-Striders receive a 10% discount on the purchase of all non-sales items. Bring them $500 worth of Bandanna receipts and they'll give you a $75.00 store credit (even if your purchases consist of 500 energy bars!). Bandanna's Web site At The Pulse in Meridian (Eagle Rd and Fairview), Y-Striders receive a 10% discount on the purchase of all non-sales items. Join their "Customer Appreciation Program". For every $250 you spend in their store, you will receive a $25 gift card to spend as you please. They keep a record of your transactions, so there is no need to save your receipts! www.racingpulse.com
Boise RunningBoise has a lot to offer runners including incredible trail running in the Boise Foothills and an excellent Greenbelt system along the Boise River. The members of the Y-Striders take advantage of this every Saturday morning for our weekly long run that is open to anybody who would love some company and camaraderie during a long run. (need not be a Y-strider member to join us for the Saturday run) Boise was recently featured in the 'On the Road' article in Runners World magazine. Follow the Routes link to see some of the popular places to run in Boise.
